Wednesday, October 15 is SUDEP Action Day

SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) refers to the sudden and unexpected death of someone with epilepsy, where no other cause of death is found.

Each year, more than 300 Australians die from epilepsy-related causes, with SUDEP accounting for more than half of these deaths.

This Wednesday, The Bell Tower will shine purple as a symbolic tribute to those lost to epilepsy. If you’re in the area, please take a moment to reflect and honour the families in WA affected by SUDEP.

It’s important for every household to know seizure first aid, and for people living with epilepsy to actively reduce their risk by following their medication regimen, managing seizure triggers, and getting adequate sleep.
