In May, we were honoured to attend an Epilepsy Awareness Morning Tea at Parliament House, hosted by Mr Hugh Jones MLA, Hon Kate Doust MLC, and Ms Michelle Maynard MLA. The event brought together members of the epilepsy community, supporters, and parliamentarians to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and encourage open conversations about epilepsy.
Guests heard powerful and deeply personal stories, including Andy Milton sharing the loss of his daughter Evie to SUDEP, Epilepsy Warrior Haylee Mills’ moving performance, and Warrick Brown’s inspiring journey living with epilepsy. These voices are vital in helping ensure better understanding, safety, and support for people living with epilepsy.
We also celebrated the success of our Annual Street Appeal on 8 May, where our team and volunteers connected with the community in Murray Street Mall. From heartfelt conversations to raising awareness among new audiences, the day highlighted the importance of community engagement. A special thank you goes to our dedicated volunteers whose energy and commitment made the day such a success.
Looking ahead, excitement is building for the return of our much-loved 80s Retro Musical Bingo, taking place on Saturday 27 June at Ascot Racecourse. This vibrant event promises a fun-filled evening of music, games, prizes, and community spirit, all while raising vital funds to support West Australians living with epilepsy.
