October is Seizure Safety Month 4 Epilepsy WA, a month dedicated to raising awareness of epilepsy and helping make seizure safety everyone’s business. The campaign aims to empower the WA community with greater knowledge and understanding of epilepsy, best-practice management and seizure first aid, while providing people living with epilepsy with the knowledge and resources they need to reduce their risk of epilepsy-related harm.
1 in 25 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy, and 1 in 10 people will experience a seizure in their lifetime. Yet many people don’t know what to do when a seizure happens, or how those living with epilepsy can reduce their risk of epilepsy-related harm.
Seizure Safety Month 4 Epilepsy WA is about changing that.
Throughout October, we’ll be sharing information and practical resources to:
- Increase understanding of epilepsy
- Empower people living with seizures to navigate life as safely as possible
- Help the WA community learn seizure first aid
- Raise awareness of epilepsy-related risks and how they can be reduced
Keep an eye out for our statewide radio campaign, social media, TV advertising in medical centres and more as we work to shine a light on epilepsy and the importance of seizure safety.
