Our Purple Walk is going virtual!

This is an important announcement about our biggest annual event from our CEO: Sadly, due to growing health concerns, a difficult decision has been made by the Epilepsy WA Board and so our Purple Walk is going virtual instead with an online event for Sunday March 27.

We know how important it is for our community to gather together for this colourful event each year but the Epilepsy WA Board has taken this decision in light of the escalating COVID-19 situation and the vulnerability of many of our community members.

There will still be live music entertainment on the day via our social media coverage, lots of fun videos, prizes awarded for the best dressed and highest online fundraisers, and every child entered in this year’s Purple Walk will be sent a special gift worth a minimum of $20.

We can still come together virtually – just more safely in these uncertain times, by sharing our stories, photos and purple cheer online. So we encourage you, your friends and families to still take part, to register in the event, dress up and walk in your local park, suburban street or even your backyard and post your photos on social media, tagging Epilepsy WA (and using the hashtags #purplewalk4epilepsywa and #makemarchpurple) on your post for your chance to win prizes and help us to shine a light on epilepsy and the plight of unfunded Epilepsy WA.

Please continue your amazing work in helping us raise awareness of what it’s like living with #epilepsy and vital funds for our epilepsy support services – we are just over halfway to reaching our fundraising goal! Follow our daily posts and stories on Facebook and Instagram. There’s still so much we can accomplish online this year – we’ve had a virtual Purple Walk before due to COVID-19, so let’s do it bigger and better to reach even more hearts and minds.

If you want to buy any purple caps, pens, purple t-shirts, wristbands or any other purple merchandise for the big day please let us know ASAP via 1300 852 853 and we will post these out to you, and we are posting out current orders. Free caps will be sent to individuals who raise over $200.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you all virtually, online, in all your purple glory for both your coverage of our biggest ever Purple Lights night on March 26, and our virtual 2022 Purple Walk! Thanks for all you do, and our thanks also go to our virtual event sponsors Seer Medical and Perth Neurology & Epilepsy. Please continue to stand with us and take part virtually, as all donations raised will help to ensure that we can continue our vital work. More details of our big events to follow soon!

Warmest regards,

Emma Buitendag
